Heart & Soul.

There has been a short break between term papers and final exams where I thought I could take advantage of to post some updates. This one is going to be short and sweet, like I always promise they will be and then I end up writing a book.

A lot of the people in my life already know this, but for those of you just getting to know me through my blog I am introducing for the first time my love and adoration for the Miss Britney J. Spears. Ever since I was 8 years old and baby one more time hit the radio waves, it was love at first sight. You would think that through the years my idolization would die down as I matured. However, it has gotten progressively worse, and I am honestly so proud of that. My support runs deep. I think I felt closer to Britney more than ever during her dark days because I feel that was when she was fragile but real. She wasn't a manufactured product dolled up by her management, it was the real Britney, calling out for help. And I absolutely loved that side of her. I still think she wasn't crazy, the media made the world think she was crazy, but that is a whole other story and I don't want to start my conspiracy rants here. This is strictly about the fashion.
If anyone is interested in my deeper thoughts then you can just comment and ask, I'll be more than happy to share more of my beliefs on the Britney subject.

But this post is to celebrate her overcoming all of those past hardships and how she is still the most fascinating and inspirational celebrity ever!
There is a lot of controversy about Britney joining the xfactor panel this season because a lot of people are throwing out the "she can't even sing" card. And instead of me trolling thousands of websites and starting disputes, I will put my opinions on here to say my peace once and for all. This show is called the "X" factor. Meaning if you got "it" that the industry is looking for. That doesn't mean the best voice ONLY. You need the package. The look, personality, dance ability, entertainment value, shock value, and voice. Britney has been in the business since she was 13 years old and she has proven enough that she can sing. It's not the best vocal range like Christina can belt out high notes, but Britney has always been an amazing entertainer and knows how to make people talk and keep millions interested in her. Simon wanted her for his ratings, obviously, but to say Britney is not capable of being in that position is utter ignorance. I don't know how ready she is to take on this role, I just hope she has finally reached a good and stable place in her life where she can show the world again why we love her.
By the looks of the first auditions, girl is in GREAT SHAPE. So let me just shut my mouth now and show the pictures!

INSTAGRAM PICS FROM FANS

I am so freaking proud of her, words can't even describe! It's so nice to see genuine smiles and her looking healthy! That dress was adorable, and do I even mention that body after two kids!?
I could only hope I look that good. People need to stop being so judgmental and rude. We are so used to having our celebrities be "perfect" that it's so unrealistic. We should embrace that Britney is a person just like us and we should applaud her strength and her desire to get back into the groove of fame without people being so mean.

I guess the post was another opinion piece, with a small rant of sorts. But this has been the most rewarding post of all for me. :-)

Until next time, ~Happy Shopping & Happy June!
Summer is here, let's hope I can get some new cute things to post.

Showing Some Skin. How much is too much?

[This is an opinion piece - a reflection on some standards in the Fashion world. Please feel free to read if you are interested and tell me your opinions as well in the comments section]

Hello Fashion Followers,
I have been furiously writing school papers and haven't had the time to devote to updates. On a positive note, I am finishing my very last semester as an undergrad in 3 weeks. After the 15th of June, be ready for an update overload!

I wasn't planning on updating at all this week but I came across something I felt I just needed to talk about.

One of the very few cool things about being a woman is that our figure and curves are very sexy and we have amazing clothes that can show that off. But then there is always the question of decency. How much skin is too much? One of the trends this year have been the 'slit' dress. I honestly think there is nothing sexier than a slit dress from the floor to the thigh, on one side. The slit has to stop, though at a specific point, or else people might get a view of your 'peek-a-boo.' There is a very fine line between sexy and slutty, and I think its something women should pay attention to. I believe that not showing too much is sexier than having it all hang out. If you want to show your cleavage, with the new push up bra you got, than balance it out with a longer, curve hugging dress to the knee. If you wear a mini dress that shows a little bit of butt cheek AND have your cleavage all hang out, know that this is not attractive. Unless you expect men to treat you like a piece of meat. If you dig that sort of thing than don't question why men don't respect you. Sorry for being a little harsh today...Maybe it is the weather. But sometimes we got to face the truth ladies. It doesn't matter how skinny you are and if you can 'pull it off' or not. It is about sexiness, classiness, and self-respect. Those qualities are truly attractive.

Slightly getting off topic here. But what I really wanted to bring to people's attention is how pathetic it is that the fashion industry still promote sickly skinny models as the face of absolute beauty and chicness. I know a lot of people in this business may have come to accept the fact it's just the way it is, but I will continue to disagree and voice my opinion. Because, while they are being shallow to sell products and getting millions, they are creating false realities and insecurities for women everywhere. Not to mention the deep psychological problems that models face daily with keeping their weight down, like getting into drugs and developing anorexia in order to keep up with these requirements.

Honest opinions now, which celebrity looks better?

***Side note: I love turquoise/aqua and coral together! What a great color combo for summer***

I will leave you with that thought. I don't think I need to elaborate on this topic any more...
I did not want to make my blog a place where I bash trends and people because beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it is important to be objective. It is not my intention to be critical of anyone. But, again maybe it is the terrible rainy weather today that has made me angry when I saw that first picture. And the sad part is - f.designers would say the first model looks fantastic!

Forget the obvious for a second - that her pelvis bone is 100% visible and popping out, what about how high the slit on that dress is that you can see she is not even wearing underwear! EW. I am sorry but I don't find these extremely thin models sexy. It worries me. We all have our opinions. I personally look up to women like J.Lo, Kim K and her sisters, Beyonce, and Rihanna, all women who are not thin by any standards but they are all beautiful. Other people may argue and say that they are too fat. Well I think everything in life should be in moderation. That is the best way to go. Finding the middle ground between two extremes is where logic lies.

Speaking of Jennifer Lopez...I JUST LOVE THIS ENTIRE LOOK!

I am interested in hearing your opinions on today's post. If you liked it or not. If I should just stick with fashion posts and lots of pictures and no talking? If you enjoyed it, maybe I will have opinion updates from time to time. Change it up a little, you know?

Until next time, ~Happy Shopping

Spring Trend MEGAPOST - part I

Hello Fashion Followers,
I know a couple of weeks ago I did a fashion forecast post about what I think the spring and summer trends are going to be. This is a follow-up post about what is in the stores RIGHT NOW so if you are out shopping and want some tips about what colors and trends are 'in' then keep reading! :-)
It's going to be a MEGAPOST of all the great styles out this season. In the comments box feel free to tell me your opinions on what trends you like the best! First we will touch on specific STYLES and cuts that are in, then I will show you the dominate COLORS of spring, so if you aren't a fan of some of the styles, you can still get away with being 'in' this spring with the color schemes that are popular.

TIP 1: All of these trends can be mixed and matched! Denim vests and shirts go with leatherette leggings, that is really 'in' this season. OR you will see cold-shoulder dresses with embellishments and printed graphics. If you are lucky to find any such pieces you have got the look! There is nothing better than incorporating multiple trends in just one item or outfit!

Spring Styles 2012
THE COLD SHOULDER and EMBELLISHED COLLARS
I put two trends under one category because you can mix the two into one look. You can find each trend separately of course, but for the sake of time and space both of these trends may be seen together.

TIP 2: Embellishing your chiffon or denim collar shirts is a simple and easy D.I.Y project! Most likely your local craft store will have studs and jewels where you can bedazzle your shirts any way your heart desires! It also makes any ordinary shirt a one-of-a-kind item!
TIP 3: Any button down blouse that can be tied in the middle, which is also a trend this spring! Instead of making a separate post - you can put all three trends together! I couldn't find a picture with a cold-shoulder tie front studded neck collar shirt....(wow, that's a mouthful), but that is where the creativity kicks in and you could imagine how you would decorate this plain white collar!

I know what some of you are thinking. What about DENIM? What about STUDS GALORE? What about cut-off FRINGE? Well, these three things I left out on purpose because they are such huge topics they need a completely separate post. So don't worry more trend updates are coming soon.

This spring there are A LOT of different styles to choose from. Luckily for those who absolutely don't like one trend still has so many other options that still look great. This post was a lot longer than I even expected so I am going to split the styles with the colors into two different posts. Colors of Spring will be up next. Also this week we have 'Celeb style for Le$$' and a 'Celeb style showcase'...Maybe a wishlist too, since I haven't done that in over a  year!

Until next time loveys, ~Happy Shopping!

COACHELLA MUSIC AND ARTS FESTIVAL 2012

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival
(A.K.A
CoachellaCoachellafest or Coachella Festival) is an annual three-day music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CaliforniaThe event has several stages/tents set-up throughout the grounds, each playing live music continuously as well as showcasing large sculptural art. The event features many genres of music, including rock, indie, hip-hop and electronica.

It takes place during the third or last weekend of April. The festival is renowned for its cutting edge lineup, showcasing many of the up-and-coming acts in music as well as reunions.

In 2003 people attending the event could also camp there for the three days, on an adjacent polo field. It is encouraged to carpool to the festival, since Coachella promotes a greener environment. People who carpool are eligible for VIP goodies.

Basically it's a MODERN DAY WOODSTOCK, with a touch of glam.

Ok that's all nice and dandy but where is the fun stuff? What celebrities were there? What did they wear? What musicians put on a sick showcase? No fear, I got it all right here. :-)

Here are some of the looks celebs were sporting at the Coachella Fest this year:
KATE BOSWORTH
KATY PERRY
VANESSA HUDGENS 1
VANESSA HUDGENS 2
VANESSA HUDGENS 3
EMMA WATSON
LINDSAY LOHAN

Out of dozens of photos I think these celebs really showcased their fashion sense with the meaning of the festival. Vanessa Hudgens definitely took her style seriously, dominating all three days with awesome bohemian chic outfits! She managed to incorporate almost all the trends this spring;
Fringe, Floral, High-waist shorts, thigh-high socks, Boots, Floppy Hats, and tarnished gold jewelry...To name a few.

As far as the MUSIC DEPARTMENT goes - Rihanna made an appearance to perform her two hit songs with producer and DJ Calvin Harris, singing 'We Found Love' and 'Where Have you Been.'
RIHANNA
SICK CHANEL JACKET!
Rihanna Performing - With best friend Katy Perry close at hand!

But no music spectacle topped the amazing TUPAC HOLOGRAM PERFORMANCE. Being one of the conspiracy theorists myself, it made me wonder! Either technology is that ridiculous, or there is something they are not telling us. lol With that, Tupac is still proving that he is the richest dead man alive, and his performance at Coachella 2012 was chilling yet absolutely phenomenal.

From Trashy to Classy: JWoww's Transformation

Good Morning Fashion Followers,
For those of you who live in Greece and Turkey and follow my blog may not know who JWOWW is. Basically, she is a reality TV star on an MTV show called 'Jersey Shore.'
(One of my guilty pleasures might I add).
It follows eight Italian-American kids while they drink, party, hook-up, and tan - during summer vacation at a New Jersey beachfront house.

I don't know what it is, the money, age or expierence. But whatever the case may be it is treating Jenni Farley, a.k.a JWOWW very good. The saying 'money doesn't buy you happiness' may be true but it sure can buy you a new wardrobe, personal trainers, and plastic surgeons! I am not hating on my girl Jwoww. She is one of my favorite cast members of the Jersey Shore, and I always thought she was hot, even before she got really famous and changed up her look.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

What do you all think? Like Jwoww's new and refined looks? I would totally rock all of her 'AFTER' outfits. I love them. Just enough sexy and sophisticated wrapped in one perfect blend. I wouldn't mind having her toned legs either! lol

Until next time.... :-)

Fashion Funk.

Hello Fashion Followers,

I am sorry that I have not updated in quite some time, but I have to admit that I am in a serious Fashion FUNK!
There is no inspiration around me and I am starting to get worried.
My usual window shopping online has come to a halt, maybe because I know I don't have dollars to spend on clothes right now. Online shopping for things I know I won't be able to get will just make me feel worse.

"Where has all the money gone?"
Living in the mist of a huuuge economic crisis/meltdown in Greece right now, where stores are closing left and right it only feels wrong of me to continue shopping in this environment. It's the whole attitude of the country right now that has left me a little depressed and hopeless. I can't even find any new FUSIC to put tonight...Usually I put club tracks up to get me ready for a fun Friday. But because those too have been cut short, well you get the idea. The inspiration and excitement is not there.

I can NOT wait until the summer. I'm starting to go stir crazy. Just waiting for the day to whip out my favorite summer trends to post. In the meantime, I promise I will keep looking for interesting new updates. I would hate to just update for the sake of updating and not have it be worthwhile. We shall see what I can conjure up.
Maybe I should look into a celeb style 4 less. Those are great go-to posts when I can't actually shop myself.

Again, I'm very sorry I find myself in this funk. If there are any ideas you want to throw out there I would love to hear them. I guess I will update with a F.usic post too. Even though I might not be going out this Friday night, there are plenty of people out there who are! We can't let them down now, can we?

Until next time, you know the drill

Betsey Johnson Gives a Sneak Peak.

So many updates, where shall I begin?

Here's a little treat for Betsey Johnson lovers. The fashion designer herself posted to fans from her facebook page on January 25th with a sneak peak at some shoes that will be out for the 2012 spring collection.

She writes: "Love these heels? Watch out for 'em this Spring!"

source:  http://www.facebook.com/xobetseyjohnson
Can I just point out two things...Patent leather is still in - YES!!! I am so excited about that. And second, the pointed-toe is slowly coming back. That metal stiletto heel is FIERCE! I am definitely thinking about getting myself a pair of those babies. I hope when the spring collection is available there are other colors to choose from!

Be back in a jiff with another fashion post! xoxo
