Back & Ready for Fashion Action!

Courtesy of Google Images

Hello Fashion Followers,

After a very long and needed break from the world, Fashion Fix is back for NY fall update. I couldn't be more excited, as I am finally a college graduate and a New York resident. Bye bye Athens, hello NYC! Coming back home after 5 years already feels like I never left. I miss Greece so much, it was 5 years of my life that gave me unforgettable experiences and a lot of time on my own for reflection and growth. Thanks to the super hip fashion scene of Athens I might as well dedicate my inspiration to launch this blog because of that.

Well, I didn't want to rant too much, but I did want to apologize for being M.I.A for 3 months but now that I have things running again I wanted to tell the blogging world...I am happy to be back home!

Happy Autumn Shopping!

Summer Hiatus Until Further Notice... :-(

courtesy of Google Images

Hello Fashion Followers,

I have some exciting news on the 'life of Anna' front, not so much on the 'fashion' front, though. :-(I know I have been really bad at updates this lovely summer, just like last year when I was in the states visiting for the summer and had no time to dedicate to well thought-out posts. Good/Bad news I am moving out of Athens, Greece and moving back to my home state of New York to start a new chapter of my life. I say it's good and bad news because I missed being home, and I am finally ready to go back, but I am sad because I have made Greece my home for the past 5 years, and I am going to miss this city, and the crazy fun places and people I got to meet while being here. So I have mixed feelings about this next big step. I have officially graduated COLLEGE with a degree in communications. So that has definitely been the highlight of my month of June. As a graduation present my parents have graced me with a brand new CANON T3i rebel camera, to help me also with my blog picture updates. I am so grateful and lucky to have such amazing parents who have supported me in whatever I wanted to do, and I seriously appreciate all they have done and continue to do. Unfortunately, this looks like it will be the last post of most of the summer, as I will take a hiatus to enjoy not being a college student and relaxing during my last summer before the real world starts. I also will be on a remote island with no internet connection, so even if I wanted to update, that would be difficult. Hopefully by the end of July I can make a quick update to catch up with some posts, as well as the end of august. I will be leaving Athens middle of September, so I expect to be posting in full-swing by the beginning of September as a fresh new start --- kind of like back to school, but since I won't BE in school, I can dedicate more precious time to my blog, with canon rebel pictures! Fun Stuff!

Until Next Time, ~Happy Shopping

Heart & Soul.

There has been a short break between term papers and final exams where I thought I could take advantage of to post some updates. This one is going to be short and sweet, like I always promise they will be and then I end up writing a book.

A lot of the people in my life already know this, but for those of you just getting to know me through my blog I am introducing for the first time my love and adoration for the Miss Britney J. Spears. Ever since I was 8 years old and baby one more time hit the radio waves, it was love at first sight. You would think that through the years my idolization would die down as I matured. However, it has gotten progressively worse, and I am honestly so proud of that. My support runs deep. I think I felt closer to Britney more than ever during her dark days because I feel that was when she was fragile but real. She wasn't a manufactured product dolled up by her management, it was the real Britney, calling out for help. And I absolutely loved that side of her. I still think she wasn't crazy, the media made the world think she was crazy, but that is a whole other story and I don't want to start my conspiracy rants here. This is strictly about the fashion.
If anyone is interested in my deeper thoughts then you can just comment and ask, I'll be more than happy to share more of my beliefs on the Britney subject.

But this post is to celebrate her overcoming all of those past hardships and how she is still the most fascinating and inspirational celebrity ever!
There is a lot of controversy about Britney joining the xfactor panel this season because a lot of people are throwing out the "she can't even sing" card. And instead of me trolling thousands of websites and starting disputes, I will put my opinions on here to say my peace once and for all. This show is called the "X" factor. Meaning if you got "it" that the industry is looking for. That doesn't mean the best voice ONLY. You need the package. The look, personality, dance ability, entertainment value, shock value, and voice. Britney has been in the business since she was 13 years old and she has proven enough that she can sing. It's not the best vocal range like Christina can belt out high notes, but Britney has always been an amazing entertainer and knows how to make people talk and keep millions interested in her. Simon wanted her for his ratings, obviously, but to say Britney is not capable of being in that position is utter ignorance. I don't know how ready she is to take on this role, I just hope she has finally reached a good and stable place in her life where she can show the world again why we love her.
By the looks of the first auditions, girl is in GREAT SHAPE. So let me just shut my mouth now and show the pictures!

INSTAGRAM PICS FROM FANS

I am so freaking proud of her, words can't even describe! It's so nice to see genuine smiles and her looking healthy! That dress was adorable, and do I even mention that body after two kids!?
I could only hope I look that good. People need to stop being so judgmental and rude. We are so used to having our celebrities be "perfect" that it's so unrealistic. We should embrace that Britney is a person just like us and we should applaud her strength and her desire to get back into the groove of fame without people being so mean.

I guess the post was another opinion piece, with a small rant of sorts. But this has been the most rewarding post of all for me. :-)

Until next time, ~Happy Shopping & Happy June!
Summer is here, let's hope I can get some new cute things to post.

Showing Some Skin. How much is too much?

[This is an opinion piece - a reflection on some standards in the Fashion world. Please feel free to read if you are interested and tell me your opinions as well in the comments section]

Hello Fashion Followers,
I have been furiously writing school papers and haven't had the time to devote to updates. On a positive note, I am finishing my very last semester as an undergrad in 3 weeks. After the 15th of June, be ready for an update overload!

I wasn't planning on updating at all this week but I came across something I felt I just needed to talk about.

One of the very few cool things about being a woman is that our figure and curves are very sexy and we have amazing clothes that can show that off. But then there is always the question of decency. How much skin is too much? One of the trends this year have been the 'slit' dress. I honestly think there is nothing sexier than a slit dress from the floor to the thigh, on one side. The slit has to stop, though at a specific point, or else people might get a view of your 'peek-a-boo.' There is a very fine line between sexy and slutty, and I think its something women should pay attention to. I believe that not showing too much is sexier than having it all hang out. If you want to show your cleavage, with the new push up bra you got, than balance it out with a longer, curve hugging dress to the knee. If you wear a mini dress that shows a little bit of butt cheek AND have your cleavage all hang out, know that this is not attractive. Unless you expect men to treat you like a piece of meat. If you dig that sort of thing than don't question why men don't respect you. Sorry for being a little harsh today...Maybe it is the weather. But sometimes we got to face the truth ladies. It doesn't matter how skinny you are and if you can 'pull it off' or not. It is about sexiness, classiness, and self-respect. Those qualities are truly attractive.

Slightly getting off topic here. But what I really wanted to bring to people's attention is how pathetic it is that the fashion industry still promote sickly skinny models as the face of absolute beauty and chicness. I know a lot of people in this business may have come to accept the fact it's just the way it is, but I will continue to disagree and voice my opinion. Because, while they are being shallow to sell products and getting millions, they are creating false realities and insecurities for women everywhere. Not to mention the deep psychological problems that models face daily with keeping their weight down, like getting into drugs and developing anorexia in order to keep up with these requirements.

Honest opinions now, which celebrity looks better?

***Side note: I love turquoise/aqua and coral together! What a great color combo for summer***

I will leave you with that thought. I don't think I need to elaborate on this topic any more...
I did not want to make my blog a place where I bash trends and people because beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it is important to be objective. It is not my intention to be critical of anyone. But, again maybe it is the terrible rainy weather today that has made me angry when I saw that first picture. And the sad part is - f.designers would say the first model looks fantastic!

Forget the obvious for a second - that her pelvis bone is 100% visible and popping out, what about how high the slit on that dress is that you can see she is not even wearing underwear! EW. I am sorry but I don't find these extremely thin models sexy. It worries me. We all have our opinions. I personally look up to women like J.Lo, Kim K and her sisters, Beyonce, and Rihanna, all women who are not thin by any standards but they are all beautiful. Other people may argue and say that they are too fat. Well I think everything in life should be in moderation. That is the best way to go. Finding the middle ground between two extremes is where logic lies.

Speaking of Jennifer Lopez...I JUST LOVE THIS ENTIRE LOOK!

I am interested in hearing your opinions on today's post. If you liked it or not. If I should just stick with fashion posts and lots of pictures and no talking? If you enjoyed it, maybe I will have opinion updates from time to time. Change it up a little, you know?

Until next time, ~Happy Shopping

The Marlboro Men

When I see men in denim I think of cowboys. Yum. :-)
Denim is thriving this year. We started to see this trend slowly coming back into play last year. Now, wearing denim seems inescapable. Well, it's obvious why this craze has an extreme popularity...It is because everyone can wear denim. It's not a trend that looks good on some and not on others. Everyone can benefit from having the denim wave back in action. Guys and Girls of all ages and sizes can find some sort of denim button-up, jacket, or vest that can be worn with virtually everything. Another important plus of denim is that it's sooo comfortable. We can't forget denim jeans either. There is a reason why jeans never go out of style. Jean lengths and bottoms will change but the denim fabric is so versatile no wonder everyone loves it.

This post is dedicated to those trendy men and their denim. I've comprised a couple of pictures of celebs and street styles that encompass the true meaning of "working it" without over-doing it. These guys have managed to pull off the denim shirt and look damn good too!

Celeb Style
Kris Allen, Singer

*If anyone is keeping up with season eight's American Idol winner Kris Allen, he is promoting the release of his second studio album entitled, 'Thank you Camilla.' In almost every interview from the press junkets he is wearing some type of denim button-up or jacket. Either he is just a denim kind of guy, and he isn't meaning to be going along with the trend, or he has got one amazing stylist!
Kanye West, Rapper
*Kanye needs no introduction. His style speaks for itself. Maybe other men won't be so willing to expierement with their style like this celebrity, but without a doubt his green pants, open denim button-up, and white keds are fresh to death. It's also a cute coincidence that Kanye's new lady-friend Kim Kardashian is also a style icon and one of my absolute favorite celebrity inspirations!

David Beckham, Athlete
(click for larger images)
*Davie boy gets two pictures just because he is super hot, super stylish and I couldn't decide which one I liked better. On the left, Beckham is sporting the modern/urban denim look with rolled sleeves, undershirt, and a beanie. On the right he is channeling the 'vintage' look. Either way he wears his denim there are no complaints from me! I wonder if his wife dresses him? :-) Because that is definitely something I would do.

Street Style

Giorgos Karapetis, Fashion Student
*I am honored to feature one of my good friends on my blog today. I've been meaning to showcase his style for awhile, and I thought this would be the perfect post to do it. Honestly his fashion sense is unparalleled to others, and I applaud and envy his ability at the same time. You will probably see more of him on this blog because he truly has a talent and great eye for fashion. I also want to wish him the best of luck for his aspiring dream to become a fashion designer one day. He has all my support! Besides Giorgos' awesome denim look, can I just say how cool this picture is with the train tracks behind him?

George Roussos, My lover Boy :-)
*Ok, so you know when I mentioned above about David Beckham's wife probably dressing him, and that's what I would do.....Well, that IS what I do. lol. As you can see, the security tag and tickets are still on the jacket because he was in a dressing room when I snapped a quick pic without him realizing it. I immediately made him buy it. If he trusts my instincts, then hopefully he will wear it someday. I think he fits right in with celeb style! But that could just be me doting...

I would like to conclude that denim is freaking HOT! For girls, for guys, for everyone! I left it out of my last post because it needs a close-up on its own. I recommend to anyone that likes this trend to go out and buy a good quality denim jacket or button up. But be careful not to over-do it. Some people may be able to pull off denim on denim. A darker color denim with a lighter color on top. I personally do not like that look, and would never try to pull it off.

As a farewell warning boys and girls, just try to never look like this:

I know...Scary. (Britney's face is freaking gorgeous though!!!)
